Two boundaries do two different jobs on this lot. Where the yard needs to stay open to light and sight lines, we ran black chain link: 1 5/8 inch line posts and heavier 2 3/8 inch terminal posts set in concrete, a 1 3/8 inch top rail, 9 gauge black finish fabric, and galvanized tension wire holding the bottom edge tight. The rest of the perimeter closes off with cedar dog ear pickets on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts, three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails behind them, and galvanized ring shank nails. Each side carries its own walk gate. Splitting a Broken Arrow yard this way gives privacy where you sit and openness where you do not.
