Two cedar runs meet on this property, one pre-stained and one left natural, and both are built the same way underneath. The pickets measure 5/8 by 3.5 inch with dog ear tops, carried on three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails and 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, with galvanized ring shank nails throughout. Cedar is the reason the untreated section can stand up to Oklahoma damp on its own, and the stained section simply locks that color in place longer. The walk gate carries an adjustable diagonal support brace, so it can be pulled back square if it ever drops, and it swings outward away from the house. Jenks yards suit this kind of finish.
