Two separate runs of pre-stained cedar meet an 8-foot double gate on this property, and because both runs use the same 5/8″ x 3.5″ x 6′ pickets and the same three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, the line reads as one fence rather than two projects. The gate leaves swing on 8″ strap hinges with a drop rod assembly holding the inactive side. Every post in both runs is 2 1/2″ square steel in concrete. Cedar stained before installation resists the graying that comes fast under Oklahoma sun, and galvanized ring shank nails will not work loose as the boards cycle wet and dry. Broken Arrow yards of any size take this build well.
