Wind is the real test for any solid fence in Oklahoma, and this one is built for it. The load a privacy panel catches in a spring storm travels down through the pickets into three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails, then into 2 1/2 inch square steel posts locked in concrete. Steel does not twist or split under that push the way a timber post can after a few seasons. The pickets are 5/8 by 3.5 inch Douglas fir, pre-stained a cedar tone so the color is even and the cut ends are sealed. A walk gate in the same material completes the run. Yards around Bixby sit open to south winds, and this build accounts for that.
