Where the yard needed cover we built solid, and where it needed only a boundary we kept things open. The solid run carries 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch Douglas fir pickets, pre-stained cedar tone, on three 2×4 backrails and 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, nailed with galvanized ring shank nails. The open run uses 4 inch round treated posts, 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails, and 9 gauge black chain link tensioned across the back. A matching wood walk gate finishes the privacy side. Broken Arrow properties that run deep often need both, and drawing that line early is most of the design work.
