Access got planned before a single post went in the ground: a walk gate for people, and an 8-foot double gate where you need a wide clear opening. That double gate is wood framed, on 8″ strap hinges, with a drop rod assembly to pin one leaf while the other swings. Both gates repeat the fence material, 5/8″ x 3.5″ x 6′ Douglas fir pickets pre-stained cedar tone, over three 2×4 backrails, nailed with galvanized ring shank nails. Posts throughout are 2 1/2″ square steel set in concrete. Wide gates put a lot of load on their hinge posts, so steel is the right call. It works well on deeper Tulsa lots.
