Treated 4×4 wood posts keep this fence in one material family, and for many homeowners that is the point: the posts look like part of the fence rather than a separate structure. They are set in concrete, and the pressure treatment is what lets them handle constant ground moisture. Above them run three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails and 5/8 by 3.5 inch Douglas fir pickets, pre-stained in a cedar tone so the color is even across the whole face. Galvanized ring shank nails hold the boards tight through seasonal movement. The gate uses matching pickets, back rails, and galvanized fasteners. It is a traditional build, and it still fits plenty of Broken Arrow backyards.
