Three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails followed, then 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch Douglas fir pickets in a pre-stained cedar tone, held with galvanized ring shank nails. We finished with the walk gate, built from the same material so it disappears into the fence when closed. An all wood build like this has a warmth that steel framing does not, and treated posts handle the soil contact underneath.
