The 4×4 posts carry three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails and pickets of the same fir, 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 feet, already stained in a cedar tone when they arrived. Galvanized ring shank nails tie it together and will not weep rust across the finish. We built the walk gate from matching material with heavy duty hinges and a secure latch.
