Horizontal cedar infill reads as a wall of clean lines rather than a row of pickets, and the framing behind it is what makes the height work. This build drops 7/8 inch by 6 foot cedar boards into powder coated top, bottom, and post mount trac, all carried on 2 1/2 inch by 14 gauge black steel posts spaced on 6 foot centers and set in concrete. The steel frame takes the wind load and the cedar simply fills it, so nothing sags between posts as the boards dry. We installed the matching walk gate on the same framing. Tall screening like this suits Tulsa lots where houses sit close together and second floor windows look down.
