On a lot where the yard needs to stay visually open, galvanized chain link gives you a boundary you look straight through. We set 1 5/8 inch line posts and 2 3/8 inch terminal posts in concrete, ran a 1 3/8 inch top rail across the tops, and stretched 11 1/2 gauge fabric between them so the mesh stays taut and square. A matching walk gate keeps everyday access simple. Galvanizing is the reason this style lasts here: nothing to repaint, nothing to rot, and no reaction to the humidity and freeze and thaw cycles that arrive every winter.
