This build covers 131 feet of cedar privacy fence with a cap board and trim along the top and two walk gates for access on either side of the yard. The pickets face smooth side in. On a new home that choice decides which face the owners live with, and we pointed the finished side toward the yard. We also staged temporary fencing on t-posts while the permanent line went up, which keeps the site closed between post setting and finish work. Square steel posts set in concrete anchor everything. Fresh construction soil settles for a while, and steel gives the fence something dependable to stand on while the ground finds its level.

Two walk gates split the run for access on both sides of the house. Our shop built them from the same cedar stock, cap detail included, so they read as part of the fence rather than something added later.
