Six feet of cedar and nothing to see through: that is what most people are buying when they ask for a privacy fence. The pickets are 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 feet, butted tight and nailed with galvanized ring shank nails to three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails. Underneath it all sit 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, taking the wind load and never softening at the soil line. We built the walk gate from the same cedar, hung on heavy duty hinges with a secure latch and its own back rails so it holds shape. Owasso backyards, especially newer ones on tight lots, are built for this fence.
