Not every side of a property needs the same fence. Around the yard we built cedar privacy on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, using 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch by 6 foot dog ear pickets, three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, and galvanized ring shank nails. Along the open side runs treated pine round rail: 4 inch round posts in concrete, 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails, and 9 gauge black chain link behind them to keep animals in. Steel posts and treated posts each handle Owasso clay in their own way. A cedar walk gate serves the private side and a black chain link walk gate the open one.
