Two picket heights let one property do two jobs. The main run uses 5/8 by 3.5 inch cedar pickets over three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails for full screening, while a shorter cedar section on two back rails divides space inside the yard without blocking light. Both sit on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, and both are nailed off with galvanized ring shank nails. The walk gate carries an adjustable diagonal support brace, which lets us pull the frame back square years later if it ever starts to drop, and it opens outward, away from the house.
