We laid this fence out to the property line, dug for 2 1/2 inch square steel posts, and set each one in concrete before framing began. Three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails span the posts and 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch cedar pickets cover them, fastened with galvanized ring shank nails. The walk gate rides on a welded frame of 1 1/2 inch galvanized square steel tubing, clad in cedar and hung to open outward, away from the house. Jenks lots often put houses fairly close together, so the gate has to clear a tight side yard and the fence has to look finished from both directions.
