A single clean run, built in the usual order. We marked the line, augered the holes, and set 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete, then let them cure before framing with three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails. The 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch cedar pickets went on last, fastened with galvanized ring shank nails driven so the heads sit tight without splitting the board. Cedar resists rot and insects without help, and steel posts keep the structural part of the fence away from the wet soil that causes most failures.
