Two walk gates, built two ways. One rides on a frame welded from 1 1/2″ galvanized square steel tubing and opens outward away from the house, which is what you want on the opening that gets used hardest. The other is a wood framed privacy gate with heavy duty hinges, a secure latch, and backrails matching the fence. The run itself is 5/8″ x 3.5″ x 6′ cedar pickets, dog ear cut, nailed with galvanized ring shank nails to three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, all standing on 2 1/2″ square steel posts set in concrete. Cedar weathers well in Oklahoma sun. Steel underneath keeps a Bixby fence line from wandering as the clay moves.
