Part of this property called for more height than the rest, so the taller run steps up to 8 foot cedar pickets on four Douglas fir 2×4 backrails instead of three, adding a fixing point where a longer board would otherwise flex. The six foot sections use the same 5/8 by 3.5 inch cedar on three backrails. Both sit on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete and are nailed with galvanized ring shank nails. Neither run has to be treated to keep working. We built the walk gate from matching cedar. Skiatook properties vary in grade and screening needs, and mixing heights handles that without looking accidental.
