Where the yard needed cover we built in cedar, and where it needed only a boundary we went lower and lighter. The cedar run is 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch pickets on three Douglas Fir 2×4 backrails, galvanized ring shank nails throughout, standing on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete. The rail run uses 4 inch treated round posts with 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails and 9 gauge black chain link behind them. Two gates serve the two lines: a cedar walk gate on heavy duty hinges with a secure latch, and a black chain link walk gate on the open side. Broken Arrow properties backing onto a field are the natural home for this pairing.
