Two heights on one property, each built to its own spec. The six foot cedar run uses three Douglas Fir 2×4 backrails; the four foot run uses two, which is all a shorter picket needs. Both are 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch cedar with a dog ear top, both are fastened with galvanized ring shank nails, and both stand on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete. Dropping the height in part of the yard keeps light and air moving where privacy is not the point, while the taller section screens what needs screening. Tulsa lots with a side yard along the drive often work best handled this way.
