Keeping the dogs near the house and the rest of the ground open takes two different fences, so that is what went in. Close in, cedar at six feet: 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch by 6 foot dog ear pickets, three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete, galvanized ring shank nails. Further out, a four foot round rail line of 4 inch treated pine posts and doweled 4 inch by 8 foot rails with 9 gauge finish black chain link behind. A welded walk gate in 1 1/2 inch galvanized tubing serves the privacy side, and a black chain link walk gate hangs on the rail run. Broken Arrow acreage often works this way.
