Two fences, two jobs, one property. Around the yard proper we used cedar: 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch dog ear pickets on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete, three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, galvanized ring shank nails. Out on the open side, treated round rail on 4 inch posts with 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails and 9 gauge black chain link behind them, where the black finish sinks into the background and the timber does the visual work. We built the cedar walk gate to match and set a round rail walk gate in the timber line. On a larger Broken Arrow lot, splitting the fence this way keeps the view and the privacy both.
