This walk gate is framed in 1 1/2 inch galvanized square steel tubing, welded in our shop, so it holds square through humid summers, and it opens outward, away from the house. Cedar pickets at 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 feet clad the fence, over three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails and galvanized ring shank nails, all on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete. The galvanizing means the frame will not rust out at the welds the way bare steel does once a coating chips. Broken Arrow homes with a narrow side yard get a gate that keeps its shape for good.
