A 10-foot wood frame double gate and a braced walk gate handle two very different jobs in the same fence line. The double gate hangs on 8″ strap hinges with a drop rod assembly to hold the inactive leaf steady across that span. The walk gate opens outward, away from the house, and carries an adjustable diagonal support brace you can tune if it ever settles. Both sit in a run of 5/8″ x 3.5″ x 6′ cedar pickets, dog ear cut, over three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, nailed with galvanized ring shank nails on 2 1/2″ square steel posts set in concrete.
