Two cedar styles share this fence line: 158 feet of standard dog ear picket and 43 feet of horizontal cedar where the design called for a different look. A four foot welded steel framed walk gate, clad to match the horizontal boards, opens outward away from the house. The pickets face smooth side out, so the street and the neighbors see the finished surface. Horizontal cedar puts more weight on the posts and needs tighter spacing, which is why those boards run on steel posts on four foot centers. Nothing had to come out before we started.
