The cedar handles the screening at full height, and two gates handle everything you need to move in and out. The fence is 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 foot cedar picket over three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, fastened with galvanized ring shank nails. The walk gate carries an adjustable diagonal support brace and opens outward, away from the house. The wider double gate is built on a welded frame of 1 1/2 inch galvanized square steel tubing, because a wide wood gate needs steel behind it to stay square through years of use. Older Tulsa neighborhoods with deep back yards suit this arrangement.
