One hundred seven feet of six foot cedar privacy fence and a welded steel framed double gate make up this project. The gate frame is 1 1/2 inch galvanized square tubing on adjustable hinges, with gate posts set three feet deep, because a wide opening is the first thing to sag on any fence. Steel takes that stress where a wood frame would eventually rack out of square. The rest of the run is cedar on square steel posts, three backrails deep, fastened with galvanized ring shank nails. Posts went in one day and the fence was finished the next. For a Broken Arrow yard that needs mower access, a double gate is worth the extra framing.

Privacy Fence 6' Cedar Dog Ear on Steel Posts

One hundred seven feet of dog ear cedar closes this yard, with pickets nailed to three fir backrails using galvanized ring shank nails that keep holding as the wood moves. The posts are square steel in concrete, and they set the standard the gate has to meet.

The double gate spans the widest opening in the fence, so we framed it in welded steel instead of wood. Adjustable hinges let us fine tune the swing after the concrete cured.
