Ground that rolls makes gates awkward, which is why this one has an adjustable diagonal support brace and swings outward away from the house. Tighten the brace and the leaf comes back square. The fence it hangs in is 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch by 6 foot cedar dog ear pickets on three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, over 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete, nailed with galvanized ring shank nails. Steel posts hold a line across uneven ground better than timber, where every post sits at a slightly different depth. Cedar stays light enough not to overload the hinges. Sand Springs has plenty of slope, and this build respects it.
