A wide wood gate is heavy, and weight is what pulls a timber frame out of square over a few seasons. This double gate is framed in 1 1/2 inch galvanized square steel tubing, welded up in our shop and then faced in cedar so it matches the run. The galvanized coating means no rust bloom at the welds and no repainting on your calendar. The fence uses 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 foot cedar pickets, three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, and galvanized ring shank nails on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts set in concrete. Muskogee properties needing mower and equipment access to the back yard get it without a sagging gate later.
