Two heights, two jobs. The taller cedar run closes off the private part of the yard with 5/8 by 3.5 by 6 foot pickets on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete, three Douglas fir 2×4 back rails, and galvanized ring shank nails. Where the view mattered more, we installed Ameristar Montage Majestic three rail iron at four feet on 2 inch, 16 gauge black posts, with 4 inch picket airspace and an extended picket bottom rail. Each side got its own opening: a cedar clad walk gate on a welded 1 1/2 inch galvanized steel frame that opens away from the house, and an iron walk gate hung to match the panels. Bixby yards often ask for both.
