This is a straight run of cedar privacy fence with nothing else asked of it, so every detail is in the fence itself. Dog ear cedar pickets at 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch give the top line its shape. Three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails sit behind them, spaced to hold a 6 foot picket flat rather than letting it bow, and galvanized ring shank nails keep the pickets seated when wind works the face. Posts are 2 1/2 inch square steel set in concrete, which takes rot at grade out of the picture entirely. Cedar over steel is an ordinary, well proven build, not a special system. On a Broken Arrow lot it looks right from both sides.
