Post setting took the first stretch of this job. Each 4×4 treated post went into a concrete footing, plumbed and aligned, and nothing else happened until those footings cured. Then three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails went up and 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch cedar pickets followed, held with galvanized ring shank nails. Cedar over treated posts gives you the grain and natural weather resistance above ground while the pressure treatment does the work at the soil line. Left alone, the cedar mellows toward gray over a few seasons. It is a quiet, familiar look along the older streets in Broken Arrow, where a fence should not be the loudest thing in the yard.
