Taller privacy panels need more structure, so this run carries four Douglas fir 2×4 back rails rather than the usual three, keeping the long cedar pickets flat and giving each panel more to resist wind with. The pickets are 5/8 by 3.5 inch cedar, topped by a 2×6 cedar cap board and 1×4 cedar trim that close off the end grain along the whole line. Posts are 2 1/2 inch square steel set in concrete.
