Not every part of a yard wants the same treatment, so we split this one. The open runs use 4 inch treated round rail posts in concrete with doweled 4 inch by 8 foot rails and 9 gauge black chain link stretched behind them, holding the line while keeping the yard visually wide. Where screening mattered, cedar cap and trim panels take over, built from 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch by 4 foot cedar pickets on 2-1/2 inch square steel posts with two cedar 2×4 back rails, a 2×6 cap board, and 1×4 trim. We built the cedar walk gate from the same stock, then hung black chain link walk and double gates. Glenpool yards do well with that mix.
