Round rail work starts at the corners. We set 4 inch round treated pine posts in concrete, then fitted 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails between them so the joints lock in rather than relying on fasteners alone. With the rails up, 9 gauge black chain link went on the back side, tensioned so dogs and smaller animals cannot slip through the openings. A black chain link walk gate hangs in the finished line. Treated pine handles the moisture swings in Oklahoma clay, and the dark fabric fades into the background instead of fighting the rails. It is a familiar look on the larger, greener lots around Collinsville.
