Black vinyl coated chain link behind treated round rail makes a perimeter nearly vanish. You see the timber, and the 9 gauge black mesh reads as shadow between the rails. That run sits on 4 inch round rail treated posts in concrete with 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails. Closer to the house we built a 6 foot cedar dog ear section on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts, three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails, and galvanized ring shank nails. Its walk gate is framed in 1 1/2 inch galvanized square steel tubing and swings outward, away from the house. A black chain link walk gate was hung in the rail line. Bixby lots often need both kinds of edge.
