A back yard that opens onto a greenbelt or a field does not need to be walled in. We built a two rail treated pine line here, with 4 inch posts set in concrete and doweled 4 inch by 8 foot rails, then ran 9 gauge black finish chain link behind the rails for containment. A black chain link walk gate carries daily traffic. The mesh sits back far enough that the rails read as the fence and the wire disappears at a few paces. Treated pine takes moisture in stride, and the black vinyl coating keeps the wire from showing rust streaks. Plenty of Tulsa properties on the edge of a neighborhood use this exact combination.
