The privacy section arrived already finished in a cedar tone stain, so the wood had an even, warm color the day the last picket went on. Those are 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch Douglas fir dog ear pickets on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete, carried by three Douglas fir 2×4 backrails and fixed with galvanized ring shank nails. Out at the perimeter, treated round rail on 4 inch posts with 4 inch by 8 foot doweled rails, backed by 9 gauge black chain link that sits back and stays quiet. We built the matching wood walk gate and hung a black chain link gate in the rail line. Broken Arrow properties often want both.
