Post holes came first, spaced to the doweled rails so nothing had to be forced into place. We set 4 inch round treated pine posts in concrete, seated the 4 inch by 8 foot rails, then hung 9 gauge black chain link on the back side to close the openings. Both gates went in at the end, a walk gate for everyday use and a wider double gate for hauling things in and out. Rails frame a property cleanly, and the wire behind them does the containment work quietly. On the roomier lots north of Tulsa, Owasso included, that combination has aged well for decades.
