Different parts of this yard needed different fences. Along the open boundary we set 4 inch treated round posts in concrete and doweled 4 inch by 8 foot rails into them, then backed the two rail line with 9 gauge black chain link so nothing small gets through. Where cover was the point, cedar takes over: 5/8 inch by 3.5 inch cedar pickets fastened with galvanized ring shank nails over three Douglas Fir 2×4 backrails, all carried on 2 1/2 inch square steel posts in concrete. Ring shank nails bite and stay bitten as boards move with the seasons. A chain link walk gate joins the two lines on this Bixby lot.
